Saddleback Mountain

Saddleback mountain was formed prior to San Andreas Fault, back when a subduction zone occurred where the Pacific Plate went under California. Depicted Modjeska (1 675m; left) and Santiago (1 734m; right) peaks. Modjeska part of the formation from Triassic-Jurassic Period; it includes the oldest rocks in Orange County from about 225 million years ago. Both peaks are part of 35 miles long Santa Ana mountains southern California. > > Back to painting

The Nyx Goddess. After Redon

The Nyx Goddess gave birth to twins - Hypnos and Thanantos. The Nyx (The Night) is a daughter of Scottos and Chaos; wife of Erebus (The Darkness).

Hypnos was a primordial deity in Greek mythology, the personification of sleep. He lived in a cave next to his twin brother, Thanatos, in the underworld, where no light was cast by the sun or the moon; the earth in front of the cave was full of poppies and other sleep-inducing plants.

By legends twins are Goddess of Night Dream and Goddess of the Death. People believed that many time ago death was just a long period of sleeping; then people awake from death. But once something happened and everything turns wrong. And now two worlds have little or no connections.

Гипнос был первобытным божеством в греческой мифологии, олицетворением сна. Он жил в пещере рядом со своим братом-близнецом Танатосом в подземном мире, где не было света ни солнца, ни луны; Земля перед пещерой была полна маков и других усыпляющих растений.

По легендам, близнецы – это Бог Ночного Сна и Бог Смерти. Люди верили, что много лет назад смерть была просто длительным периодом сна; Тогда люди пробуждались от смерти. Но однажды что-то случилось и все оборнулось не так. И теперь два мира практически не связаны между собой.

Pinata Boy With Angel

What does the pinata symbolize?
The original & traditional pinata has seven points symbolizing the seven deadly sins: envy, sloth, gluttony, greed, lust, anger/wrath, and pride. The ten pointed pinata symbolizes the sins that come from breaking the ten commandments. The stick which is used to break the pinata represents and symbolizes love.

Why is the pinata important?
Nowadays in Mexico piñatas are an important part of birthday parties and other parties for children. ... The ones with a pot inside are easier to break because they don't swing so much when you hit them, but they can also pose a danger, of shards flying as the piñata breaks.

Working title of this painting was - Bad Brother Is Still the Brother. Piñata. Meaning a special relationship between an angel and bad boy pinata. While the children and their parents are playing piñata, the angel stands silently behind the people, but sympathizes with the piñata boy, who will soon be beaten according to tradition.

Some people believed that once pinata boy was a fallen angel and represented negative power.
